Born in 1973 in Kent, Connecticut, MacFarlane’s love for animation started at a young age. He spent most of his childhood watching classic cartoons such as Looney Tunes and Hanna-Barbera. Growing up, he was also a fan of science fiction and horror movies. This later influenced the creation of one of his shows, Family Guy, which is known for its references to pop culture and Sci-fi.
MacFarlane attended the Rhode Island School of Design and graduated in 1995 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Animation. He then moved to Los Angeles with the aim of working in animation.
