Matthew Goode

Born on April 3, 1978, in Exeter, Devon, Matthew William Goode grew up in a small village in Oxfordshire. His father was a geologist, and his mother was a nurse. Growing up, Matthew was naturally drawn to acting and the performing arts. He attended the University of Birmingham, where he graduated with a degree in Drama and Theatre Arts.

Matthew’s acting career began in the early 2000s when he appeared in several television shows and films. His breakthrough role was in the British comedy-drama « Chasing Liberty » (2004) co-starring Mandy Moore. He then went on to play a prominent role in the Oscar-winning film « Match Point » (2005) directed by Woody Allen.

Matthew has starred in a variety of genres throughout his career, including drama, comedy, and action. In 2008, he played the male lead in « Brideshead Revisited, » a film adaptation of the classic novel by Evelyn Waugh. Later on, he appeared in the prominent role of Ozymandias in the superhero film « Watchmen » (2009).

In 2010, he starred in the romantic drama film « Leap Year » alongside Amy Adams. The following year, he played the lead role of George in the critically acclaimed film « A Single Man, » a portrayal which earned him a nomination for the BAFTA Award for Best Actor.

Matthew has also appeared on notable television shows, such as « Downton Abbey, » « The Crown, » and « The Good Wife. » In 2012, he starred in « Stoker, » a psychological thriller co-starring Nicole Kidman, for which he received critical acclaim for his role as the manipulative Uncle Charlie.

Matthew’s most recent work is on the Netflix series « The Imitation Game, » a miniseries based on the life of Alan Turing. He portrays Hugh Alexander, a British cryptanalyst, working alongside Turing during World War II.

Outside of his career in acting, Matthew is a devoted father of three children and is married to his longtime partner and ex-model Sophie Dymoke. He is also an ambassador for the children’s charity, World Vision UK.
