Giraudeau began his acting career in the 1970s, appearing in films such as Les Feux de la Chandeleur, La Cage aux Folles and Le Roi des cons. He became well known for his roles in French cinema, appearing in more than 80 films over his career.
In addition to his work as an actor, Giraudeau was also a talented director, having directed films such as Les Caprices d’un fleuve and Un Fil à la patte. He also wrote several novels and screenplays throughout his career.
Aside from his work in the entertainment industry, Giraudeau was also an accomplished sailor. He sailed around the world three times and participated in several major sailing competitions, including the Vendée Globe and the Route du Rhum.
