He spent countless hours in the gym, working on his strength and conditioning, and became a starter in his sophomore year. By his senior year, Burlsworth was named team captain and an All-American player. Burlsworth's work ethic on the field was second to none, and he was a role model for his fellow teammates. He was also deeply religious and had a strong faith that guided him throughout his life. After graduating from college in 1998, Burlsworth was selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the third round of the NFL draft. Sadly, Burlsworth's dreams were cut short when he died in a car accident just eleven days after being drafted. He was on his way home to Harrison to attend his younger brother's birthday party when his car collided with a semi-truck. He was just 22 years old.
