Early Life and Career
Born as George Murdoch, Tyrus grew up in California and attended Quartz Hill High School. He was an accomplished athlete and played both football and basketball in high school. After graduating, he attended Antelope Valley College on a basketball scholarship.
Tyrus eventually found his way into the entertainment industry and landed a role as a bodyguard on the reality show Girls Next Door. WWE Career
Tyrus was signed by WWE in 2006 and began his career in the developmental system. He quickly became a fan favorite and even had a lengthy undefeated streak.
However, WWE eventually repackaged Tyrus as a heel and formed a tag team with Tensai called Tons of Funk. They were a dominant force for a while but eventually dissolved the team and Tyrus was released from his contract in 2014.
Impact Wrestling
Tyrus signed with Impact Wrestling (then known as TNA) in 2014 and quickly became a top star. He aligned himself with Ethan Carter III, forming a duo known as EC3 and Tyrus. They were a dominant force in Impact, holding multiple titles and becoming fan favorites.
Tyrus had various runs in Impact Wrestling, with him shocking many when he also served as color commentator on some shows. He was released from his Impact Wrestling contract in 2020 in a more blatant fashion (of which he has been very vocal about), but his legacy in the promotion remains intact.
Independent Circuit
After his release from Impact Wrestling, Tyrus returned to the independent circuit where he has had many independent appearances and notable matches. He has since also appeared on several television shows and in movies.
