When it comes to quick and delicious meals, flans are an easy favorite. With a simple base of eggs, cream, and a few flavorings, you can create a variety of combinations that will tantalize your taste buds. In this recipe, we’ll be using two types of fish – tuna and Mareblu – along with creamy , crispy vegetables, and a surprising finish of crumbs.
Ingredients:
For the flans:
– 1 can of tuna, drained and flaked
– 1 can of Mareblu, drained and flaked
– 1 avocado, peeled and mashed
– 4 eggs
– 200ml of cream
– 1 garlic clove, crushed
– 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
– Salt and pepper to taste
For the vegetables:
– 1 carrot, peeled and cut into thin strips
– 1 courgette, cut into thin strips
– 1 red pepper, deseeded and cut into thin strips
– 1 garlic clove, crushed
– 1 tablespoon of olive oil
– Salt and pepper to taste
For the popcorn crumbs:
– 1 bag of salted popcorn, crushed
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 180C/350F. Place 4 ramekins or small oven-proof dishes in a deep baking tray and set aside.
2. In a mixing bowl, combine the tuna, Mareblu, and mashed avocado. Add the crushed garlic, lemon juice, and season to taste with salt and pepper. Mix well.
3. In a separate mixing bowl, whisk the eggs and cream together until well combined. Add the tuna mixture to the bowl and stir until fully incorporated.
4. Pour the mixture evenly into the ramekins and fill the baking tray with water until the water level is halfway up the sides of the ramekins.
5. Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the flans are cooked through and golden on top. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly.
6. While the flans are , prepare the vegetables. Heat the olive oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and sauté until fragrant but not browned.
7. Add the carrot, courgette, and red pepper strips to the pan, and season with salt and pepper. Sauté for 3-4 minutes, or until the vegetables are just tender but still have a bit of crunch.
8. To make the popcorn crumbs, crush the bag of salted popcorn in a separate bowl.
9. To assemble the dish, sprinkle the popcorn crumbs over the top of the flans. Serve with the sautéed vegetables on the side.
