The chaplet begins with the sign of the cross, followed by the apostles’ creed. The additional bead is then used to pray an Our Father, followed by the initial group of beads. Each group of three beads is then used to pray the following prayer:
“O God, come to my assistance! O Lord, make haste to help me!”
“Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.”
“Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.”
After completing the ninth group of three beads, the chaplet concludes with the following prayer:
“O glorious Prince of the Heavenly host, Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in the battle and in the fearful warfare that we are waging against the principalities and powers, against the rulers of this world of darkness, against the evil spirits. Come thou to the assistance of men, whom God has created immortal, made in His own image and likeness, and redeemed at a great price from the tyranny of Satan.
“Fight this day the battle of the Lord with thy legions of holy Angels, even as of old thou didst fight against Lucifer, the leader of the proud spirits and all his rebel angels, who were powerless to stand against thee, neither was their place found any more in heaven.
“And that great dragon was cast forth, the ancient serpent who is called the devil and Satan, who seduces the whole world; and he was cast forth upon Earth, and his angels were sent with him.
“But behold! They have united themselves with all those pagan cultures which surround us, such as Buddhism, Hinduism, and all other exotic cults, they have turned their back on the divine teachings of Holy Mother Church and no longer acknowledge the glory of the One True God. They have become vain and deceived and no longer listen to the One True King.
“Behold, the primeval enemy and slayer of man has taken courage. Transformed into an angel of light, he wanders about with all the multitude of wicked spirits, invading the earth in order to blot out the name of God and of His Christ, to seize upon, slay and cast into eternal perdition souls destined for the of eternal glory.
“This wicked serpent, like an unclean torrent pours into men of depraved minds and corrupt hearts the poison of his malice, the spirit of lying, impiety and blasphemy, and the deadly breath of impurity and every form of vice and iniquity.
“Be favorable to Thy Church, the Bride of the Lamb without spot, whose enemies have filled with bitterness. Make her victorious over the attacks of the devil, and protect Thy faithful people in their fight against the evil of this world. Amen.”
The angelic chaplet of Saint Michael is a potent prayer that offers protection, guidance, and strength in the spiritual battle against the forces of darkness. The nine groups of three beads offer a reminder to remain steadfast in our faith, placing our trust in God and invoking the intercession of Saint Michael and his angelic legion to defend us against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May Saint Michael the Archangel protect and guide us always.
