As a Christian, one of the most important things we do is pray. We pray for guidance, strength, hope, and so much more. But have you ever stopped to think about how much Jesus has done for us through prayer? It’s truly remarkable and worthy of thanks.

First and foremost, Jesus himself prayed. He prayed for himself, for his disciples, for the people of Israel, and even for us, his future followers. In the Garden of Gethsemane, he prayed so fervently that he sweat drops of blood. He knew the power of prayer and modeled it for us perfectly.

But Jesus didn’t just pray for himself and his inner circle. He also prayed for his enemies. In Luke 23:34, he says, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” This is an incredible example of forgiveness and love. Even in the midst of pain and suffering, Jesus prayed for those who were causing it.

Another way Jesus has blessed us through prayer is by teaching us how to pray. The Lord’s Prayer, found in Matthew 6:9-13 and Luke 11:2-4, is a perfect template for our own prayers. It covers all the bases – praising God, asking for His will to be done, asking for daily provision, asking for forgiveness and for help to forgive others, and asking for protection from temptation and evil. We can trust that if we pray in this way, we are praying in alignment with God’s will.

Jesus also prayed for our protection. In John 17, he prays for his disciples (including us, as his followers) to be protected from the evil one. He says, “My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.” This is such a comfort to know that Jesus, our Savior, is praying for our protection.

Finally, Jesus prayed for unity. In John 17:20-23, he prays, “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.” Jesus wants us to be united together as his followers. We may come from different backgrounds or have different opinions, but we are one in Christ. We can thank Jesus for praying for this unity and ask Him to continue to help us live it out.

In conclusion, Jesus has done so much for us through prayer. He modeled prayer for us, prayed for his enemies, taught us how to pray, prayed for our protection, and prayed for our unity. We can thank Him for all of these things and more. We can also be encouraged to keep praying ourselves, knowing that it makes a difference and that we have a perfect example in Jesus.

So let us say, “Thank you, Jesus, for the prayer.” Let us see the power and beauty of prayer that Jesus showed us in His life on Earth. And let us continue to pray, trusting that He hears our prayers and that they make a difference in His plan for our lives and for the world.
