Unfold the paper to its original diamond shape. On each of the four outer triangular flaps, write a color or a number. These will serve as the prompts for the fortune teller. You can get creative and write things like “red,” “blue,” “1,” “2,” or even add phrases like “you will find love soon” or “a great adventure awaits.”
Step 5: Creating the Fortune Teller Structure
Fold the paper back into a diamond shape, ensuring the prompts are on the folded side, hidden from view. Take your thumbs and your index fingers, placing them inside the four pockets created by the folded flaps. Carefully push the pockets towards each other until the paper starts to collapse.
Now you have your fortune teller structure ready! Slip your fingers into the pockets and manipulate the fortune teller by moving your fingers in and out. As you do so, the fortune teller will open and close, revealing the prompts you wrote on the outer flaps.
Step 6: Using the Fortune Teller
To use the fortune teller, start by asking a friend to choose a color or number visible on the outer flaps. While moving your fingers in and out, spell out the chosen color or number, opening and closing the fortune teller accordingly. Then, ask your friend to choose one of the exposed prompts. Open that flap to reveal their fortune or prediction associated with that prompt.
