Locate the lockshield valve, which is usually found on the opposite side of the radiator from the TRV or manual valve. This valve controls the flow of hot water into the radiator. Use a flathead screwdriver to gently remove the cap, if present.
Step 4: Use the Radiator Key or Wrench
Take your radiator key or adjustable wrench and carefully insert it into the square-shaped bleed valve, which is located on the side of the lockshield valve. Slowly turn the key or wrench counterclockwise to open the valve. You should hear a hissing sound as any trapped air escapes, and water should start to flow into the radiator.
Step 5: Bleeding the Radiator
If there is air trapped inside the radiator, it may prevent it from heating up properly. To bleed the radiator, use the radiator key or a towel-wrapped flathead screwdriver to carefully open the air vent, usually located at the top of the radiator.
