What do you need?
Before we dive into the tutorial, make sure you have the following:
- An Alexa device (Echo Show, Echo Spot, or any Alexa-enabled smart display)
- A smartphone or a computer
- Stable internet connection
Step 1: Download the Amazon Photos app
The first step is to download the Amazon Photos app on your smartphone. This app allows you to store and manage your photos in the cloud. You can download the Amazon Photos app for free from your device’s app store (Google Play Store for Android and App Store for iOS).
Step 2: Sign in or create an Amazon account
If you already have an Amazon account, sign in with your credentials. If not, create a new account by selecting the “Create a new Amazon account” option. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the account setup.
Step 3: Upload your photos to Amazon Photos
Once you are signed in, you can start uploading your photos to Amazon Photos. Use the app’s interface to select the photos you want to add to Alexa. You can either choose specific photos or upload entire albums. Make sure to organize your photos in a way that makes it easier to access them on your Alexa device.
Step 4: Open Alexa app on your smartphone or computer
Next, open the Alexa app on your smartphone or computer. If you don’t have the app, you can download it for free from your device’s app store or visit the Alexa website to access it from your computer.
Step 5: Connect Alexa to Amazon Photos
In the Alexa app, navigate to the “Settings” menu and select “Photos.” From there, choose “Amazon Photos” as your default photo source. You will be prompted to log in to your Amazon account if you haven’t done so already.
Step 6: Enable the “Personal Photos” skill
After connecting Alexa to Amazon Photos, enable the “Personal Photos” skill. This skill allows Alexa to access and display your photos. Open the Alexa app, go to “Skills & Games,” search for “Personal Photos,” and enable the skill. Follow any further instructions for the skill setup.
Step 7: Enjoy your personalized photos on Alexa
Once you have completed all the previous steps, you’re ready to enjoy your personalized photos on Alexa. Simply ask Alexa to display your photos by saying commands like, “Alexa, show my personal photos” or “Alexa, display my album named ‘Vacation Memories’.” Your selected photos will be displayed on your Alexa-enabled device.
Adding photos to Alexa is a simple process that allows you to create a more personalized experience. Whether it’s family photos, travel memories, or your favorite artworks, now you can have them all at the tip of your voice commands with Alexa.
So, why wait? Start adding your favorite photos to Alexa and enjoy the visual delights along with the convenience it offers. Give your Alexa device a personal touch today!
