Ingredients:

– 3/4 cup (170g) of unsalted butter
– 1 1/2 cups (300g) of granulated sugar
– 3 large eggs
– 2 cups (240g) of all-purpose flour

– 1/2 cup (120ml) of buttermilk

– 1/2 cup (115g) of unsalted butter
– 2 cups (240g) of confectioners’ sugar
– 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
– 3 tablespoons of heavy cream
– 1/2 cup (70g) of chopped walnuts
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch (23cm) cake pan.
2. In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Add in the eggs, one at a time, and beat well after each addition.
4. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and baking soda. Add the dry mixture to the butter mixture and mix until well combined.
5. Stir in the vanilla extract, buttermilk, and sour cream, and mix well.
6. Fold in the chopped walnuts until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth out the surface.

10. To make the frosting, in a medium mixing bowl, cream the butter until light and fluffy.
11. Gradually add in the confectioners’ sugar, vanilla extract, and heavy cream, and mix until smooth and creamy.
12. Fold in the chopped walnuts until evenly distributed throughout the frosting.
13. Frost the cooled cake with the frosting and sprinkle the remaining chopped walnuts on top.
