Belief in angels and their divine nature has been an integral part of many religions and spiritual practices. Throughout history, people have sought the guidance and protection of angels in times of need. The concept of s is also deeply ingrained in these beliefs, with each choir having its unique purpose and role in the hierarchy.
In the Catholic Church, for example, there are nine choirs of angels, arranged in three hierarchies. The first hierarchy includes the Seraphim, Cherubim, and Thrones, who are believed to be closest to God. The second hierarchy includes the Dominions, Virtues, and Powers, who govern the natural world and the Order of Creation. The third hierarchy comprises the Principalities, Archangels, and Angels, who are concerned with the welfare of humanity and act as messengers and guardians.
Each choir is associated with specific qualities and attributes, and invoking their aid can help us cultivate those qualities and receive divine assistance. One way to do this is through prayer. The following is a prayer to the angelic choirs:
“O holy and glorious angelic choirs, who stand before the throne of God and serve His will in perfect harmony, we invoke your presence and ask for your aid in our lives. May you bless us with your divine qualities and guide us in our journey towards spiritual excellence.
Great Seraphim, who burn with the fire of divine love, purify our hearts and enlighten our minds with the knowledge of God’s truth. May we be filled with the same zeal and enthusiasm as you in our devotion to God.
Mighty Cherubim, who guard the gates of heaven and contemplate the divine mysteries, grant us the wisdom and discernment to understand God’s will and the strength to follow it. May we also deepen our reverence and awe for the mystery of God’s presence in our lives.
Thrones of God, who uphold His justice and righteousness, may we be steadfast in our commitment to moral and ethical values and strive to create a just and humane society.
Dominions of God, who regulate the natural world and the Order of Creation, help us to be good stewards of the earth and all its resources and to use them for the benefit of all living beings.
Virtues of God, who are the agents of divine miracles and signs, may we have the faith and courage to trust in God’s providence and to bear witness to His power and goodness in our lives.
Powers of God, who fight against the forces of darkness and evil, protect us from all harm and danger and help us to resist temptation and sin.
Principalities of God, who oversee the affairs of nations and cultures, guide our rulers and leaders in their quest for justice and peace and inspire us to work for the common good of humanity.
Archangels of God, who announce the great events of salvation history and are the messengers of God’s word, help us to hear the voice of God in our hearts and to respond to it with joy and obedience.
Angels of God, who are our guardians and companions on our earthly journey, watch over us and guide us with your gentle and loving presence. May we also learn from your example of humility and servitude and be inspired to serve others with kindness and compassion.
O holy and glorious choirs of angels, we thank you for your constant presence and intercession and ask for your continued aid in our lives. May we also learn from your harmonious cooperation and unity and aspire to live in peace and harmony with all God’s creatures. Amen.”
