Mary’s love for her son was evident throughout his life. When Jesus was a young boy, Mary and Joseph searched for him when he was lost in the temple. Mary also interceded on behalf of the couple at the wedding in Cana when they ran out of wine, and Jesus performed his first miracle.

In the Catholic tradition, Mary is also considered the Mediatrix of all graces, meaning she is seen as a channel through which all blessings flow. Catholics believe that Mary, because of her unique role as Jesus’ mother, has a special relationship with her son and is able to intercede for us.
