KaVontae Turpin

KaVontae Turpin is an American football wide receiver and return specialist who currently plays for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was born on December 28th, 1995, in Monroe, Louisiana, and attended high school at Neville High School in the same city.

Turpin began his college career at Texas Christian University (TCU) in 2015, where he made an immediate impact as a freshman. He played in all 13 games that season, catching 45 passes for 649 yards and eight touchdowns. He also rushed for 153 yards and two touchdowns, returned 18 punts for 116 yards, and returned 27 kickoffs for 683 yards and two touchdowns.

Turpin continued his impressive form in his sophomore year, where he played in 11 games and caught 29 passes for 410 yards and six touchdowns. He also rushed for 76 yards, returned five punts for 76 yards, and returned 10 kickoffs for 249 yards and a touchdown.

However, Turpin’s college career was cut short due to off-field issues, and he was dismissed from the TCU football team in 2018. Despite this setback, Turpin’s talent was undeniable, and he was given a chance to prove himself in professional football.

Turpin joined the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL in 2019, where he played in 16 games and caught 41 passes for 649 yards and five touchdowns. He also returned 60 punts for 928 yards and two touchdowns, making him one of the most dangerous return specialists in the league.

Turpin’s impressive performances caught the attention of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, who signed him for the 2020 season. Unfortunately, Turpin’s debut in the CFL was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and he had to wait until August 2021 to make his first appearance for the team.

Despite the long wait, Turpin did not disappoint in his CFL debut. He played in five games for the Tiger-Cats and caught 14 passes for 155 yards and three touchdowns. He also returned six punts for 51 yards and a touchdown, showcasing his electric speed and agility.
