There comes a time in every individual’s life when they must take a leap of faith and “just go with it.” Whether it’s taking on a new job, trying a new hobby, moving to a new city, or even just saying “yes” to that first date, we often hesitate due to fear of the unknown. But what if we took a different approach? What if we embraced the unknown with open arms and trusted that things will work out in our favor?

As someone who has always struggled with anxiety and a fear of the unknown, I understand how difficult it can be to take risks. I would often find myself overthinking every possible outcome of a situation and would ultimately talk myself out of taking any actions at all. It wasn’t until I started forcing myself to “just go with it” that I started to see changes in my life.

One of the biggest changes I made was when I decided to switch careers. I had been working in the same field for years and was content with my job, but I knew that I wasn’t passionate about it. The thought of starting over in a new field was daunting, but I knew that it was something that I had to do in order to find fulfillment. I made the decision to quit my job and enroll in a program to become a teacher.

The first day of school was nerve-wracking. I was the oldest person in my cohort, and I had never set foot in a classroom as an educator. However, I knew that I couldn’t let my fear hold me back. I took a deep breath and decided to “just go with it.” And you know what? It ended up being one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I discovered a passion for teaching that I never knew existed, made amazing connections with my students and coworkers, and found a sense of fulfillment that I had been missing in my previous job.

That’s not to say that taking risks always leads to immediate success. It’s important to acknowledge that failures and setbacks will happen along the way. But instead of letting those obstacles defeat you, choose to view them as opportunities for growth and learning. Sometimes the biggest lessons are learned through failure.

Choosing to “just go with it” can also lead to unexpected opportunities and experiences. A few years ago, a friend invited me to accompany her on a trip to Europe. I had never been out of the country before and was hesitant to say yes due to the cost and time commitment. However, I realized that this was a once in a lifetime opportunity and decided to “just go with it.” That trip ended up being one of the most memorable experiences of my life. I got to explore new countries, taste new foods, and meet incredible people. If I had let my fears hold me back, I wouldn’t have had those experiences to look back on.

At the end of the day, life is meant to be lived to the fullest. That means taking risks, embracing uncertainty, and “just going with it” more often. Of course, it’s important to weigh the pros and cons of any decision, but don’t let your fears stop you from pursuing your dreams and living your best life. So the next time you find yourself hesitating, take a deep breath and remind yourself to “just go with it.” You may be pleasantly surprised by where it takes you.
