Jude Bellingham is one of the most exciting young English football players currently plying his trade in Germany with Borussia Dortmund. At just 18 years old, Bellingham has already made a name for himself as a relentless midfielder who can contribute both defensively and offensively.

Bellingham got his start in the youth academy of Birmingham City, the local team in his hometown. It didn’t take long for him to stand out, and he made his first-team debut in August 2019, aged just 16. Bellingham immediately impressed with his energy, work rate, and technical ability. He quickly established himself as a regular starter in Birmingham’s midfield, despite his tender age.

In his first full season as a professional, Bellingham made 44 appearances for Birmingham, scoring four goals and providing three assists. In addition to his impressive stats, he also caught the attention of scouts from all around Europe. The likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich all reportedly expressed an interest in signing the young midfielder.

However, it was Borussia Dortmund who won the race for Bellingham’s signature. The German giants paid Birmingham a fee of around £25 million, a record fee for a 17-year-old, in the summer of 2020. Bellingham quickly settled into life in Germany, and his first few months with Dortmund were nothing short of sensational.

He scored his first Bundesliga goal in November 2020, becoming the youngest Englishman ever to score in the German top flight. He followed that up with an even more impressive strike in the DFL-Supercup against Bayern Munich, rifling a shot into the top corner from the edge of the box. Bellingham continued to impress throughout the season, playing a key role in Dortmund’s run to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

What makes Bellingham so special is his incredible all-around ability. He has the athleticism and tenacity to win the ball back and break up opposition attacks, but he also has the technique and vision to create opportunities for his teammates and score goals himself. On top of that, his attitude and work rate are both exemplary, and he’s already shown himself to be a leader on the pitch despite his young age.

It’s no surprise that Bellingham has already made appearances for the England national team, despite still being a teenager. He made his debut in November 2020, becoming the third-youngest player ever to wear the Three Lions. He’s since made a handful of appearances and looks set to be a regular fixture in Gareth Southgate’s squad for years to come.

For Bellingham, the sky’s the limit. He’s already achieved so much at such a young age, and it’s clear that he has the potential to become one of the best midfielders in the world. With his combination of physicality, technique, and attitude, he’s exactly the kind of player that top clubs are always on the lookout for. It won’t be long before Bellingham is commanding even bigger fees and competing for major trophies on a regular basis.
