Joe Flacco

Joe Flacco is an American football quarterback in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at the University of Delaware and was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft.

In college, Flacco played for the Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens. He redshirted his first year and did not start as a freshman, but he made his mark as a sophomore. In 2006, he led the Blue Hens to an 8-3 record and a berth in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision playoffs. Delaware lost in the quarterfinals to the eventual champion, Appalachian State.

Flacco’s standout season came in 2007, as he led the Blue Hens to the national championship game, where they lost to the Southern Illinois Salukis. In that season, he completed 331 of 521 passes for 4,263 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions. He set single-season records for touchdown passes, passing yards, and completions that season.

Flacco was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft as the 18th overall pick. He became the Ravens’ starting quarterback that season and led them to an 11-5 record and a playoff berth. In his rookie season, he set a record for rookie quarterbacks with 297 passing yards in a playoff game against the Miami Dolphins.

Flacco’s career took off in his fourth season, as he led the Ravens to a victory in Super Bowl XLVII. In that game, he completed 22 of 33 passes for 287 yards and 3 touchdowns, earning him Super Bowl MVP honors.

In his career with the Ravens, Flacco has passed for 38,245 yards, 212 touchdowns, and 136 interceptions. He has led the team to seven playoff appearances and one Super Bowl championship.

Flacco’s last season with the Ravens was in 2018. He was traded to the Denver Broncos for a fourth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. His season with the Broncos was cut short by a neck injury, and he was replaced by rookie quarterback Drew Lock in Week 13. In his eight games with the Broncos, he passed for 1,822 yards, 6 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions.

Flacco has had a successful career in the NFL, but he has also faced his share of criticism. His statistics are not as impressive as other quarterbacks in the league, and he has struggled with consistency throughout his career.
