AirDrop is a feature available on Apple devices that allows users to easily share files, photos, and more with other nearby Apple users. When using AirDrop, your device’s name is displayed to other users, making it easier for them to identify and choose your device for sharing. If you want to change your AirDrop name for any reason, follow the steps below to do so.
Step 1: Open the Settings app

Step 2: Choose the General section

Once you tap on “Name,” an editable text field will appear where you can change the name of your device. Simply tap into the text field and delete the existing name, then enter the new desired name for your device. Note that the new name should be less than 15 characters long.
Step 6: Save the changes
After you have entered the new name, press the “Done” button on the keyboard. The changes will automatically be saved.
Step 7: Test the AirDrop name change
To ensure that your AirDrop name has been successfully changed, open the Control Center on your device. This can usually be done by swiping down from the top right corner on iPhones with Face ID, or by swiping up from the bottom for iPhones with a home button. Long-press on the network settings card (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc.) to open more options.
Step 8: Check the AirDrop name
Within the expanded Control Center options, press and hold the AirDrop section. A pop-up will appear with three options: Receiving Off, Contacts Only, and Everyone. At the top of this pop-up, your new AirDrop name will be displayed. This indicates that your AirDrop name has been successfully changed.
Congratulations! You have successfully changed your AirDrop name. Your new name will now be displayed to other users when they are selecting a device for sharing content. Changing your AirDrop name can be helpful if you want to differentiate your device from others nearby or if you simply prefer a more unique name.
