For example, the top left pile can be designated as the “hearts” pile, the top right as the “clubs” pile, bottom left as the “spades” pile, and bottom right as the “diamonds” pile.
3. The player with the 7 of hearts begins the game. If no player has the 7 of hearts, the player with the 7 of diamonds goes first. Play is then followed clockwise.
4. On their turn, players can play a card onto one of the foundation piles if it follows the sequence. For instance, if the hearts pile has a 6 of hearts, a player can place a 5 or 7 of hearts on top of it. Aces are considered low in this game, and kings are high.
5. If a player cannot play a card, they must draw a card from the draw pile. If the drawn card can be played, the player can do so immediately. Otherwise, play passes to the next person.
6. Players also have the option to play cards on top of one another in the tableau area. This is done by matching the rank, regardless of suit. For instance, a 4 of any suit can be placed on top of a 4 of any suit.
7. Additionally, players can create “builds” by stacking cards of the same rank together. Builds can only be started with a king, and other cards can be added to a build as long as they follow the same rank. A player can play a card from a build onto a foundation pile as long as it is of the correct suit.
8. Jokers play a special role in Kings in the Corner. When playing a joker, a player can change the order of play to their advantage, forcing the next player to skip their turn or reverse the direction of play.
9. The game continues until one player has successfully played all of their cards, or no more moves are available.
10. If multiple players run out of cards at the same time, the player who has the fewest remaining cards in their hand is declared the winner.
