1. Go early, or go late.
Crowds can be a real mood-killer when you’re trying to have a relaxing day at the beach. That’s why I always aim to get there early, before the masses arrive. If you’re not a morning person, consider heading to the shore in the evening for a sunset picnic or a moonlit stroll.
2. Get off the beaten path.
Most tourists flock to the popular beaches, but if you’re willing to put in a little effort, you can find some real hidden gems. Take a walk along the coastline and look for coves, bays, or secluded stretches of sand that aren’t as well-known. You never know what you might discover.
3. Bring your own shade.
There’s nothing worse than trying to relax on the sand when the sun is beating down on you with full force. I always make sure to bring a beach umbrella or a pop-up tent so I can create my own shady oasis. It’s a lifesaver on hot days.
4. Stay hydrated.
Hot weather and salty sea air can quickly dehydrate you, so be sure to bring plenty of water and snacks for your time at the beach. I also recommend packing a reusable water bottle that you can refill throughout the day.
5. Don’t forget the sunscreen.
This may seem obvious, but it’s worth repeating: always wear sunscreen at the beach. Not only will it protect your skin from harmful UV rays, but it will also help prevent painful sunburns that can ruin your day.
6. Bring a book or some tunes.
The beach is the perfect place to unwind and relax, so be sure to bring some entertainment along with you. I love reading a good book while listening to some calming tunes on my phone, but you can also bring a portable speaker to play some of your favorite music.
7. Try a new water activity.
If you’re feeling adventurous, why not try something new at the beach? Rent a kayak, take a surfing lesson, or go snorkeling to see what the underwater world has to offer. It’s a great way to add some excitement to your seaside adventure.
8. Take a stroll.
Walking along the shore is a great way to soak up the scenery and get some exercise at the same time. I like to take a leisurely stroll along the water’s edge, stopping to pick up interesting shells or rocks along the way.
9. Have a picnic.
There’s something special about dining al fresco at the beach. Pack a basket with some sandwiches, fruit, and snacks, and enjoy a relaxing picnic with a stunning view.
10. Watch the sunset.
Watching the sunset is a magical experience, and the beach is the best place to enjoy it. Find a comfortable spot on the sand and soak up the colors of the sky as the sun dips below the horizon. It’s a perfect end to a perfect day.
With these insider’s seaside tips, you’re sure to have a memorable time at the beach. Whether you’re exploring a secluded cove, trying a new water activity, or simply lounging in the sand, the coast has something for everyone. So get out there and enjoy all that the seaside has to offer!
