What You’ll Need
- Pair of boxing hand wraps (around 180 inches long)
- Table or clean surface
Step 1: Preparing Your Wraps
Start by straightening out your boxing hand wraps. Make sure there are no twists, tangles, or kinks in the fabric. Lay them flat on a clean surface or table.
Step 2: Secure the Thumb Loop
Place your thumb through the loop at the end of the wrap. Make sure the loop is secure but not too tight.
Step 3: Wrapping Your Wrist
Hold the loose end of the wrap against the palm of your hand. Begin wrapping firmly around your wrist three to four times. Ensure the wrap covers the back and front of your wrist for optimal support.
Step 4: Moving Towards Your Thumb
After wrapping your wrist, move the wrap diagonally across the back of your hand towards your thumb. Make sure the wrap goes between your thumb and index finger.
Step 5: Loop Around Your Thumb
Wrap the fabric around your thumb, going from the base towards the tip. Ensure the wrap is snug but not too tight, allowing movement and flexibility.
Step 6: Wrapping Your Knuckles
After looping around your thumb, bring the wrap back towards your wrist, crossing over your palm. Start wrapping firmly around your knuckles, making sure to cover them adequately.
Step 7: Secure Your Thumb
Once you’ve covered your knuckles, loop the wrap across the back of your hand, securing your thumb and providing extra support.
Step 8: Continuing Around the Wrist
To finish wrapping, continue wrapping around your wrist, going in the opposite direction from your initial wraps. Secure the wrap by tucking the loose end under the final layer or using the Velcro strap if your wraps have one.
Step 9: Test for Comfort and Support
After wrapping your hands, flex your fingers and make a fist to ensure you have adequate flexibility and comfort. The wraps should feel snug and secure without restricting movement.
Now you’re ready to put on your boxing gloves and start your training session with properly wrapped hands. Remember, practice makes perfect, so take the time to familiarize yourself with the process until it becomes second nature.
Stay safe, protect your hands, and achieve your best performance!
