Gift wrapping can be both fun and frustrating, especially if you have a gift that doesn’t quite fit the standard wrapping paper size. However, with a few simple tips and tricks, you can efficiently wrap your rectangular gift and make it look lovely.

Step 1: Measure

Before you begin wrapping, measure your gift so you know the appropriate size paper to use. Measure both the length and width of your gift and add a few inches to each measurement to ensure you have enough paper to cover the entire gift.

Step 2: Choose Your Paper

Once you have your measurements, choose your paper. You can use any type of wrapping paper you want, but it’s best to use something durable that won’t rip easily. Additionally, choose a paper color and that suits the occasion.

Step 3: Lay Out Your Paper

Unroll your wrapping paper on a flat surface and lay your gift on top of it. Make sure the gift is centered and there’s enough paper on each side to cover it completely. If you have excess paper, cut it off so there’s only about an inch or two extra on each side.

Step 4: Fold One Side

Take one end of the wrapping paper and fold it over the gift. Make sure the edge lines up with the opposite side of the gift and is flush against the gift. Make a crease where the paper meets the edge of the gift.

Step 5: Fold the Other Side

Fold the opposite side of the wrapping paper over the gift and align it with the existing crease. Make sure it’s taut against the gift and make another crease where it meets the edge of the gift.

Step 6: Fold the Ends

With the sides of the gift covered, you’ll be left with two open ends. Take one end and fold down the top edge about an inch or two to create a clean line across the top of the gift. Fold the end of the paper inwards to create a flap. Fold the flap down tightly against the gift and tape it in place. Repeat this process on the other end of the gift.

Step 7: Add Finishing Touches

Now that your rectangular gift is completely wrapped, it’s time to add a few finishing touches. Add a bow or ribbon to the top of the gift or add a small gift tag. You can also add a small piece of tape to hold the bow or ribbon in place.

Wrapping a rectangular gift may seem complicated, but it doesn’t have to be. With these simple steps, you can wrap your gift in no time. Remember, the key to wrapping a gift well is to take your time and make sure everything is taut and secure. Happy gift wrapping!
