How to use Instagram Stories

In the era of social media dominance, Instagram has emerged as one of the most popular platforms for sharing photos and videos. With the introduction of Instagram Stories, users can now create content that disappears after 24 hours. If you’re new to this feature, fret not! This article will guide you through the steps of using Instagram Stories.

To begin, open the Instagram app on your smartphone and log in to your account. Once you’re on the home screen, swipe right to access the Stories camera. You can alternatively tap on your own profile picture located at the top left corner of the screen.

Now that you’re on the Stories camera, let’s explore the different features available. At the bottom of the screen, you’ll find various icons for different modes. Starting from left to right, the first one is ‘Live,’ which lets you go live and connect with your followers in real-time. The second icon is ‘Create,’ offering a variety of creative tools such as Boomerang, Superzoom, and more. The third option, ‘Normal,’ allows you to take a photo or record a video with different effects like filters, stickers, and text. Lastly, there’s ‘Hands-Free,’ which enables you to record a video without having to continuously hold the capture button.

Once you’ve captured a photo or video, it’s time to enhance it with additional features. Instagram provides a range of filters that can be applied by swiping left or right on the screen. Experiment with different filters to find the one that suits your content the best. Moreover, you can add stickers, emojis, and location tags by tapping on the respective icons at the top of the screen. This allows you to personalize your content and engage with your audience more effectively.

A relatively recent addition to Instagram Stories is the ‘Questions’ sticker. Using this feature, you can invite your followers to ask you questions which you can answer in subsequent Stories. This is a great way to interact with your audience and build a deeper connection with them. To add the Questions sticker, select it from the sticker tray, position it wherever you like, and wait for the questions to pour in.

Instagram Stories also provides various ways to make your content more engaging. One such feature is ‘Polls,’ which allows you to ask a question and gives your followers two options to choose from. It’s an effective way to gather opinions, create interactive content, and keep your audience hooked. To add a Poll sticker, tap on the sticker tray and select ‘Poll.’ Customize the question and answer choices, and you’re good to go!

Apart from these interactive stickers, Instagram Stories also lets you tag other accounts. Whether it’s your friends, collaborators, or brands you love, tagging them in your Stories enables you to give them a shout-out or simply share their content. To tag someone, use the text or sticker option, type the ‘@’ symbol followed by their username, and select the appropriate account from the suggestions.

Once you’re satisfied with your story, it’s time to share it with the world. Tap on the ‘Your Story’ icon at the bottom left corner of the screen, which will make your story visible to all your followers for the next 24 hours. You can also choose to send your story directly to specific individuals by tapping on the ‘Send To’ icon at the bottom right corner.
