With the increasing number of spam and unwanted calls, call blocking has become an essential feature for iPhone users. Fortunately, Apple provides a built-in call blocking option that allows you to easily filter out unwanted calls. In this article, we will guide you through the steps of using call blocking on your iPhone.
Firstly, open the Settings app on your iPhone. It is represented by a gear icon and can be found on your home screen. Once you have opened the Settings, scroll down and tap on the “Phone” option.
Inside the Phone settings, you will find various call-related options. Tap on the “Call Blocking & Identification” tab. Here you will see a list of blocked contacts along with the option to add new contacts to the block list.
To add a contact to the block list, tap on the “Block Contact…” option. Your iPhone will display a list of all the contacts stored on your device. Simply select the contact you wish to block, and they will be added to the list. You can repeat this process to add multiple contacts to the block list.
In addition to blocking individual contacts, you can also block unknown callers. When this option is enabled, calls from unknown numbers that are not in your contacts list will be automatically blocked. To activate this feature, simply toggle on the “Silence Unknown Callers” option located below the block list.
Although the built-in call blocking feature is effective, some persistent spammers might continue to harass you from different numbers. In such cases, you can download third-party call blocking apps from the App Store. These apps offer more advanced features and settings, allowing you to better control and manage unwanted calls on your iPhone.
Once you have added contacts to the block list, any incoming calls from those numbers will be automatically blocked. When a blocked contact tries to call you, they will hear a busy signal as if your phone is unreachable. Meanwhile, you will see a missed call notification, but your iPhone won’t ring or vibrate.
In addition to blocking calls, you can also block text messages from specific contacts. To do this, open the Messages app on your iPhone and find a message from the contact you want to block. Tap on the contact’s name or number at the top of the screen, then scroll down and tap on the “Info” button. On the contact details screen, tap on “Block this Caller” to block both calls and messages from that person.
If you ever change your mind and want to unblock a contact, or if you accidentally added a contact to the block list, you can easily remove them from the blocked contacts. Just go back to the “Call Blocking & Identification” settings, tap “Edit” on the top right corner, and then tap the red minus button next to the contact you want to unblock. Confirm your selection by tapping the “Unblock” option that appears next to the contact.
Blocking unwanted calls on your iPhone helps you maintain peace and protect yourself from spam and scams. By following these simple steps, you can easily set up call blocking and enjoy a more peaceful calling experience on your iPhone.
