1. Mark the center of the sheet – The first step is to determine the center of the A4 sheet of paper. To do this, fold the paper in half, horizontally. Make sure that the edges match, and the paper is not creased. Once you have folded the paper, open it and flatten it. You will see a crease, which marks the center of the page. Take a pencil and make a small mark along the crease to note the center point of your page.
2. Fold the corners – Next, fold the top corners of the sheet to touch the center mark you created in step one. Make sure you fold both corners consecutively. Once you have done this, you will have created two small triangles at the top of the page.
3. Mark halfway through the side edges – For the next step, mark the halfway point from one corner to the midpoint of the top edge. This can be done by folding the edge in half and then unfolding it to create a small crease on the page. You can do the same to the other side of the paper.
4. Fold the bottom edge of the paper – After you have made the creases, flip your paper over and fold it in half vertically. Make sure the edges of the paper match up. Once the paper is folded, unfold it again, and you will have two creases that run perpendicular to each other, intersecting at the center of the page.
5. Fold again along the side creases – With the creases from step three as guides, fold the sides of the paper so that the bottom edges of the triangles you created in step two align with these creases. This process should result in the formation of two small triangles at the bottom corners of the sheet.
6. Fold bottom corners – At this point, fold the bottom corners of the sheet to meet the top ones, creating two large triangles.
7. Adjust – After doing all the folding, adjust the paper until every corner is carefully aligned. The result should be a perfect square at the bottom of the page. Make sure you press all the folds down with your fingers to sharpen them and keep them in place.
Squaring an A4 sheet of paper is easy, and it ensures that you have a perfect shape for all your work. You can use this method for any other size of paper, provided you mark the half points accordingly. Once you have mastered the technique, the process should take only a few minutes, and it will undoubtedly enhance the quality of your work.
