Step 1: Check Compatibility
Before getting started, ensure that your iPad is compatible with split screen functionality. Split screen is only available on iPads running iOS 11 or later. If your iPad is using an older version of iOS, you will need to update it to access this feature.
Step 2: Open the First App
To begin, open the first app you want to use in split screen mode. For example, let’s say you want to check your emails while browsing the web. Open the Mail app first.
Step 3: Activate Slide Over
To activate slide over and enable split screen, swipe up from the bottom of your iPad screen to access the Dock. Then, touch and hold the app you wish to use in split screen until it lifts off the Dock.
Step 4: Drag the App to the Right or Left
Once an app is lifted off the Dock, drag it to the left or right side of your screen. This will place it in slide over mode.
Step 5: Choose the Second App
To add another app to the split screen, tap on the second app you would like to use. This will open it in slide over mode next to the first app.
Step 6: Adjust the Split Screen
If you want to adjust the size of the split screen, swipe the divider between the two apps to the desired position. You can allocate more or less space to each app based on your preference.
Step 7: Switch Between Apps
To switch between the two apps in split screen mode, swipe left or right on the divider. This allows you to easily access and interact with both apps simultaneously.
Step 8: Close Split Screen Mode
To exit split screen mode, touch and hold the divider between the two apps and drag it all the way to the left or right side of the screen. The remaining app will then occupy the entire screen.
Split screen mode on the iPad is a powerful tool that enhances your productivity and allows for efficient multitasking. Whether you need to compare documents, read emails while taking notes, or any other combination of tasks, splitting the screen on your iPad provides a seamless solution. Give it a try and revolutionize the way you use your iPad!
