Gmail, being one of the most widely used email services, offers a read feature that allows you to track whether your email has been opened by the recipient. Step 1: Log in to your Gmail account
To start the process, open your preferred web browser and log in to your Gmail account. Enter your email address and password in the appropriate fields, and click on the “Next” button.
Step 2: Access the settings menu
Once you are logged in, locate the gear icon in the upper right corner of the page. Click on it to open the drop-down menu and select “Settings” from the options.
Step 3: Navigate to the Labs tab
In the settings menu, you will see multiple tabs at the top. Look for the “Labs” tab and click on it. Labs is a section of Gmail where you can experimental features.
Step 4: Enable the “Email Read Receipts” lab

Step 6: Compose a new email with read receipt
Now that you have enabled read receipts, you can send an email with this feature. Click on the “Compose” button to start a new email.
Step 7: Enable read receipt for the specific email
In the compose window, you will notice a new option labeled “Request read receipt.” It is represented by a small checkbox, usually located on the right side of the window. Check this box to enable the read receipt for the particular email you are composing.
Step 8: Finish composing your email
Compose your email as usual, adding the recipient’s email address, subject, and the contents of your message. You can also include any attachments if needed.
Step 9: Send the email
Once you have finished composing your email, click on the “Send” button to send it. The recipient will receive the email with a notification that a read receipt has been ed.
Step 10: Track the read receipt
To track the read receipt, return to your inbox and open the email you sent with the read receipt enabled. In the top-right corner of the email, you will see three vertical dots. Click on them, and a drop-down menu will appear. Within this menu, select “Show original.” A new page will open, displaying the header information of the email.
Step 11: Confirm the read receipt
Scroll down the page until you find the section labeled “X-Gmail-Received.” Here, you will see a series of details related to the email, including whether the recipient has opened the email or not. If the email has been read, you will see the corresponding timestamp next to the recipient’s email address.
