Step 1: Open the Game Bar
Windows 10 comes with the Game Bar, which not only allows you to capture gameplay but also enables screen recording. To open the Game Bar, simply press Win + G on your keyboard. If it’s your first time using the Game Bar, a prompt will appear asking if you want to make sure it works with your games. Click on the checkbox and select “Yes, this is a game” to proceed.
Step 2: Start the Screen Recording
Once the Game Bar is open, you’ll see a small toolbar with several icons. Look for the red record button in the Capture section, represented by a circle. Click on it to start the screen recording.
Step 3: Customize Recording Settings (Optional)
If you wish to customize the recording settings, such as audio, video quality, or recording length, you can do so by clicking on the gear icon next to the record button. A settings window will pop up, allowing you to adjust various options according to your preferences. Take your time to explore these settings and make any necessary changes.
Step 4: Record Your Screen
Once you’re ready to begin recording your screen, simply switch to the window or application you want to capture. The Game Bar will continue to appear on your screen, indicating that the recording is in progress. Feel free to navigate, make actions, and explain the steps you’re taking, as everything within the recording area will be captured.
Step 5: Stop the Recording
To stop the screen recording, click on the red record button again or press Win + Alt + R on your keyboard. Alternatively, you can reopen the Game Bar by pressing Win + G and clicking on the stop button. Once the recording is stopped, Windows 10 will automatically save the video in the “Captures” folder within your user directory.
Step 6: Access Your Screen Recordings
To access your screen recordings, go to the “Captures” folder. You can find it by opening the File Explorer and navigating to “This PC > Videos > Captures“. Within this folder, you’ll find all your screen recordings conveniently saved as MP4 files. You can now edit, share, or use them as needed.
