Step 1: Empty the Fridge
Before you start reversing the door, it’s essential to empty the refrigerator. Remove all the food items and place them in a temporary cooler to keep them fresh. This step will give you ample space and prevent any accidents.
Step 2: Unplug the Fridge
For safety purposes, unplug your Samsung fridge from the power outlet. This will prevent any electrical mishaps while you work on reversing the door.
Step 3: Remove the Contents of the Door
Take out all the items stored in the doors, including the bins and shelves. Keep them aside for reinstallation later.
Step 4: Remove the Upper Hinge Cover
Locate the upper hinge cover on the fridge door. Use a flathead screwdriver to gently pry it open. Once opened, remove the screws that secure the upper hinge in place.
Step 5: Remove the Upper Hinge
With the screws removed, lift the upper hinge upwards and separate it from the fridge door. Set it aside in a safe place, as you’ll need it later.
Step 6: Remove the Lower Hinge
Similar to the upper hinge, remove the lower hinge cover using a flathead screwdriver. Unscrew the screws holding the lower hinge and remove it carefully.
Step 7: Remove the Door
With the hinges detached, gently lift the fridge door upwards to remove it from the fridge. Place it aside in a safe and cushioned area to avoid any damage.
Step 8: Prepare the Door for Reversal
Before reversing the door, remove the plugs from the existing hinge holes on the opposite side. You can use a flathead screwdriver to pry them out. Afterward, use masking tape to cover the holes on the door’s original side.
Step 9: Reverse the Hinges to the Opposite Side
Begin by attaching the lower hinge to the opposite side of the fridge. Secure it with screws, ensuring it’s tight. Then, attach the upper hinge to the corresponding holes on the opposite side.
Step 10: Reattach the Door
Hold the fridge door at an angle and slot it into the hinges. Make sure it is properly aligned before lowering it into place. Once aligned, secure the door by tightening the screws on the upper and lower hinges.
Step 11: Reinstall Shelves and Bins
Place back all the shelves, bins, and other door compartments in their original positions. Ensure they are firmly in place and can accommodate your refrigerator items.
Step 12: Plug the Fridge Back In
Finally, plug your Samsung fridge back into the power outlet. Your fridge door is now successfully reversed!
