To start the game, all players roll their dice simultaneously and hide them under their cups. The first player then declares the minimum number of a particular face that they believe all players have rolled combined. For example, if the player has seen two twos under their cup, they might say, “there are at least four twos across all players.”
The next player then has two options; they can either challenge the previous player’s declaration by calling “liar,” or they can raise the number of dice they believe all players have of a particular face. If the next player thinks that the previous player’s claim is false, they call the player out as a liar, and all dice are revealed. If the previous player’s claim is accurate, the next player loses a die, and the game continues. If the previous player’s claim is inaccurate, they lose a die, and the game continues.
If the next player raises, they can only increase either the number of dice or the number on the face claimed by the previous player. For example, if the previous player claimed that there were four twos, the next player could say that there were at least five twos, but they couldn’t claim there were four threes.
Once a player loses all their dice, they are out of the game, and the last player standing wins.
The game requires a combination of luck, strategy, and bluffing. Players must be observant and track the dice rolled by all players to make informed declarations. It takes practice to be able to read other players and determine whether their claims are accurate or not. However, despite its seemingly complicated rules, the game is easy to learn and incredibly fun to play.
