Check the volume settings
First and foremost, check the volume settings of your phone. Sometimes we accidentally hit the volume button and turn the volume down, thereby muting our phone. If you’re an Android user, you can easily adjust the volume by pressing the volume button on the side of your phone.
For iPhone users, go to ‘Settings’ and then click on ‘Sounds & Haptics.’ From here, you can adjust the volume of your ringer, alerts, and other notifications.
Check the ringer settings
Sometimes we accidentally change our ringer settings, especially if we have recently downloaded a new ringtone or set a custom ringtone. Android users can check their ringer settings by going to ‘Settings’ and then clicking on ‘Sound and vibration.’ From here, you can select a new ringtone or adjust the volume of your ringer.
For iPhone users, go to ‘Settings’ and then click on ‘Sounds & Haptics’ once again. From here, you can select your ringtone, change its volume, and even adjust the vibration settings.
Check the Do Not Disturb settings
If your phone is not ringing, it could be because the ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode is turned on. This mode is helpful if you don’t want to be disturbed during certain hours or if you’re in a meeting. But if you have accidentally left this mode on, your phone will not ring at all.
For Android users, you can turn off the ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode by going to ‘Settings’ and then clicking on ‘Sound and vibration.’ From here, you can scroll down to ‘Do Not Disturb’ and turn it off.
For iPhone users, you can turn off the ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode by swiping up from the bottom of your screen to access the Control Center. From here, you can tap on the ‘Do Not Disturb’ icon to turn it off.
Check for software updates
If your phone is still not ringing, there could be an underlying issue that needs to be resolved. Sometimes software updates can fix these issues. So, make sure your phone’s software is up to date.
For Android users, go to ‘Settings’ and then click on ‘System updates.’ From here, you can check if an update is available for your phone.
For iPhone users, go to ‘Settings’ and then click on ‘General’ and then ‘Software Update.’ From here, you can check if an update is available for your iPhone.
Reset your phone
If all else fails, you can try resetting your phone. This will erase all data and settings on your phone, so make sure you back up all your important data before doing this.
For Android users, go to ‘Settings’ and then click on ‘System’ and then ‘Reset options.’ From here, you can select ‘Erase all data (factory reset)’ to reset your phone.
For iPhone users, go to ‘Settings’ and then click on ‘General’ and then ‘Reset.’ From here, you can select ‘Erase All Content and Settings’ to reset your iPhone.
In conclusion, making your phone ring again requires patience and a little bit of troubleshooting. Be sure to check the volume settings, ringer settings, ‘Do Not Disturb’ settings, and software updates before resetting your phone. With these simple steps, you should be able to hear your phone ringing once again.
