1. Gather materials
Before you start making candles, you need to gather all the materials you will need. You will need candle wax, wicks, fragrance oils, color dye, a double boiler, a thermometer, and a container to pour the melted wax into. You can find these materials at any craft store or online.
2. Melt the wax
Once you have all of your materials, it’s time to start melting the wax in a double boiler. Fill the bottom of the double boiler with water and place the wax in the top of the boiler. Heat the wax to a temperature of about 180 degrees Fahrenheit.
3. Prepare the wicks
While the wax is melting, prepare your wicks by dipping them into the melted wax for a few seconds. Lay them on a flat surface to dry.
4. Add color and fragrance
After the wax has melted, add a few drops of color dye and fragrance oil to the melted wax. Stir well to ensure that the dye and oil are evenly distributed.
5. Pour the wax
Carefully pour the melted wax into your chosen container, leaving at least a half inch of space from the top. Insert the wick into the center of the wax and let it cool for several hours.
6. Trim the wick
After the wax has cooled and hardened, trim the wick to about ¼ inch above the surface of the wax.
7. Enjoy your candle!
Once you have completed all of these steps, your handmade candle is ready to enjoy or give as a gift. Light your candle and enjoy the beautiful scent and warm glow!
These are the basic steps to making your own handmade candles. You can experiment with different scents, colors, and container shapes and sizes to come up with unique candles that reflect your personal style. Making handmade candles is a fun and rewarding hobby that will bring warmth and light to your life.
