Materials You’ll Need
- Fabric of your choice
- Measuring tape
- Scissors
- Pins
- Sewing machine or needle and thread
- Elastic or zipper
Step 1: Measure Your Pouf
Start by measuring your pouf’s diameter and height. This will ensure you cut the fabric to the correct size. Use the measuring tape to get the most accurate measurements.
Step 2: Cut the Fabric
Once you have the measurements, lay the fabric flat and cut two circles for the top and bottom of the pouf cover. The width of each circle should be the diameter plus an extra inch for seam allowance. For the height, cut a rectangle with a width equal to the pouf’s circumference and a length equal to the height plus an extra inch for seam allowance.
Step 3: Sew the Rectangular Piece
Take the rectangle you just cut and fold it in half lengthwise, right sides facing each other. Pin the long side and sew it shut, leaving a small opening near one end. This will be used to insert the pouf later. Trim the excess fabric and turn it right side out.
Step 4: Attach the Circular Pieces
Pin one of the circles to the top opening of the rectangular piece, right sides together. Sew them together, removing the pins as you go. Repeat the same process with the other circle and the bottom opening of the rectangular piece. Make sure to backstitch at the beginning and end to secure the seams.
Step 5: Add the Elastic or Zipper
If you’re using elastic, cut a piece long enough to fit around the bottom edge of the pouf cover. Sew the ends of the elastic together and evenly distribute it around the fabric. Stretch the elastic as you sew it to create a snug fit. For a zipper closure, sew the zipper to the bottom opening of the cover, following the manufacturer’s instructions.
Step 6: Finish the Pouf Cover
Lastly, turn the cover right side out and insert your pouf through the opening. Adjust the cover to fit properly, making any necessary adjustments. If using elastic, tuck any excess fabric inside. Zip up the cover if using a zipper. Your new pouf cover is now complete!
With just a few simple steps, you can easily transform your pouf with a stylish and custom-made cover. Whether you prefer a vibrant pattern or a timeless solid color, this guide has you covered. Enjoy your refreshed pouf and the cozy atmosphere it brings to your living space!
