Gather the Materials
- Colored felt sheets
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun
- Ruler
- Pencil or fabric marker
Create the Rose Template
Before cutting any felt, create a template for the rose petals. Use a ruler to draw a teardrop shape on a piece of paper. This will be your template for cutting petals of uniform size.
Trace and Cut the Felt Petals
Place the template on the colored felt sheet, and use a pencil or fabric marker to trace around it. Repeat this process until you have a sufficient number of petals for your desired rose size.
Once traced, carefully cut out each petal along the marked lines. Take your time to ensure clean and precise cuts.
Prepare the Petals
Hold a felt petal between your fingers and gently stretch it from the rounded end to the pointed end. This will create a slightly curved shape, giving the petal a more natural appearance. Repeat this step for all the cut petals.
Assemble the Rose
Begin assembling the rose by taking one of the petals and applying a small amount of hot glue to the rounded end. Fold the straight edge of the petal over the glued end, creating a slight overlap. Press until the glue sets. Repeat this process for the rest of the petals, slightly overlapping each one to mimic the shape of a real rose.
Create the Rose Center
Take a small square of felt and roll it up tightly. This will serve as the center of your rose. Use hot glue to secure the roll and ensure it doesn’t unravel.
Attach the Center to the Petals
Apply a generous amount of hot glue to the bottom of the rolled-up felt square. Carefully place it in the center of the layered petals and press gently to secure it in place.
Finalize the Rose
Once the center is securely attached, check the shape and position of the petals. Adjust and rearrange as needed to achieve your desired look. You can also experiment with different colors or add leaves for an extra touch.
And there you have it! You have successfully created a beautiful felt rose. Whether you use it to adorn a gift or incorporate it into a craft project, your felt rose will surely be admired for its handmade charm.
