What Do You Need?
Before we begin, make sure you have the following items:
- A Chromecast device
- An Android or iOS mobile device with a data plan
- An HDMI-compatible TV
- A USB power supply or an available USB port on your TV
- An HDMI cable (if your TV doesn’t have an available HDMI port)
Step 1: Connect Your Phone
Start by connecting your mobile device to your Chromecast. Plug the Chromecast device into your TV’s HDMI port and power it using a USB power supply or an available USB port on your TV. Ensure that your phone is connected to the mobile network and not to any WiFi networks.
Step 2: Set Up Hotspot
Next, you’ll need to set up a personal hotspot on your mobile device. Open the settings on your Android or iOS device and navigate to the hotspot settings. Enable the hotspot and configure the network name and password.
Step 3: Connect Chromecast to Hotspot
Now, access the Google Home app on your mobile device. If you haven’t installed it yet, download it from the Google Play Store or the App Store. Open the app and find your Chromecast device. Tap on “Set up” and select the “Use without Wi-Fi” option.
Follow the on-screen instructions to connect your Chromecast to the newly created hotspot. This will allow your Chromecast to connect to the internet using your mobile data.
Step 4: Complete the Setup
Once your mobile device has successfully connected the Chromecast to the hotspot, you can complete the setup process by following the prompts in the Google Home app. This includes choosing your preferred language and connecting the Chromecast to your Google account, if desired.
After completing the setup, you can cast content from supported apps directly to your TV using your mobile device.
Installing Chromecast without WiFi may require a few extra steps, but it is definitely possible. By following this step-by-step guide, you can get your Chromecast up and running even without an available WiFi connection. Now you can enjoy streaming your favorite content on the big screen!
