Materials You Will Need
- Pencil
- Eraser
- Drawing paper
Step 1: Sketch the Basic Shape
Start by lightly sketching an oval shape towards the top half of your paper. This shape will be the body of the duck.
Step 2: Add the Head and Beak
Using the top part of the oval, draw a smaller oval shape for the duck’s head. Then, attach a triangle-shaped beak at the front of the head. Make sure the beak is pointing slightly downwards.
Step 3: Draw the Eyes
On the duck’s head, add two small circles for the eyes. Place them slightly towards the sides of the head, giving the duck a cute and innocent expression.
Step 4: Create the Wings
Extend two slightly curved lines from the sides of the duck’s body towards the bottom half of the page. These lines will serve as the duck’s wings.
Step 5: Outline the Feet
Beneath the body, draw two thin, elongated shapes for the duck’s feet. Each foot should have three small curves at the bottom to represent its webbed structure. These feet will give your duck a sense of movement.
Step 6: Add Feathers and Details
Using small, curvy lines, outline the feathers on the duck’s body. Add a few lines on the wings to represent the feathers there as well. You can also draw a line across the beak to emphasize the mouth.
Step 7: Erase Unnecessary Guidelines
After you have finished the outlines and details, erase any unnecessary guidelines that may still be showing. Be careful not to erase any essential parts of the duck you have drawn.
Step 8: Color Your Duck
Finally, when you are satisfied with your duck drawing, you can go ahead and bring it to life with colors! Ducks typically have yellow or orange beaks, brown or black eyes, and yellow, brown, or green feathers. You can get creative and decide on the colors that inspire you!
Remember, drawing is all about having fun and embracing your own style. Don’t worry about making it perfect; the imperfections are what make it unique. So, grab your materials and start drawing your adorable duck today!
