Step 1: Accessing Twitch Chat Commands
The first step is to access the Twitch chat commands menu. To do this, log in to your Twitch account and navigate to your channel. On your channel page, you’ll find the chat window. Once there, click on the gear icon located at the bottom-right corner of the chat window. This will open the chat settings menu.
Step 2: Creating a New Command
In the chat settings menu, you’ll see a variety of options. Click on the “Moderation” tab to access the moderation settings. Here, you’ll find the “Commands” section. Click on the “Commands” tab to view your existing commands, and to create a new one, click on the “New Command” button.
Step 3: Setting Command Triggers and Responses
When creating a new command, you’ll need to specify the trigger phrase and its response. The trigger phrase is what viewers will type in chat to activate the command, while the response is what the command will output. For example, if you want to create a command that greets new viewers, you could set the trigger phrase as “!hello” and the response as “Welcome to the stream, [viewer’s username]!”.
- Enter the desired trigger phrase in the “Command Name” field.
- In the “Response” box, enter the text or message you want the command to output.
- You can also use variables such as [viewer’s username] to personalize the command’s response for each viewer.
Step 4: Setting Command Options
Once you’ve specified the trigger phrase and response, you can further customize your command using the available options.
- Cooldown: Determine the cooldown period, which prevents the command from being used continuously.
- Cost: Set a channel point cost for viewers to use the command.
- User Level: Decide the required user level (everyone, regular, subscriber, moderator) to use the command.
- Enabled: Toggle the command on or off.
Step 5: Saving and Activating the Command
After setting the trigger phrase, response, and command options, click on the “Save” button to create the command. Once saved, the command will be available and active in your Twitch chat. You can test it out by typing the trigger phrase in your own chat or asking a friend to give it a go!
Creating commands on Twitch can add a whole new level of interactivity to your stream. Whether it’s providing useful information, engaging with your viewers, or simply adding some entertainment value, custom commands can make your Twitch stream stand out from the rest.
