Gather the Tools
Before you begin, gather the necessary tools. For this task, you’ll need:
- A replacement flint
- A small screwdriver or a paperclip
Step 1: Prepare the Lighter
First, make sure the lighter is empty. Press down on the flame adjustment wheel and simultaneously push up on the metal piece on the bottom to remove the gas. Additionally, ensure the lighter is turned off to avoid any accidental ignitions during the process.
Step 2: Access the Flint Chamber
Flip the lighter upside down and examine the bottom. You’ll notice a metal cap covering the flint chamber. Insert your small screwdriver or the end of a paperclip into the small hole on the side of the cap and carefully push downwards to release the cap. Be cautious not to damage the cap or hurt yourself in the process.
Step 3: Remove the Old Flint
Once the cap is removed, you’ll see the old flint in the chamber. Use your screwdriver or paperclip to gently lift the flint out. It should easily come out without much force. Dispose of the old flint properly.
Step 4: Insert the New Flint
Take your replacement flint and carefully place it into the chamber. Make sure it sits snugly and securely. Push it down until it is firmly in place. Ensure there is enough flint showing to make contact with the striker wheel.
Step 5: Replace the Cap
Retrieve the metal cap you previously removed and align it with the flint chamber. Insert the cap back into its original position by pushing it upwards until it locks in place. Ensure it fits snugly to prevent any gas leaks.
Step 6: Test the Lighter
With the flint replaced and the cap securely in place, you can now test your Clipper lighter. Turn the gas on and ignite the lighter. If the flame appears, you have successfully changed the flint. If not, double-check the flint installation or try replacing it again.
By regularly replacing the flint on your Clipper lighter, you’ll ensure consistent ignition and prevent frustrating moments when you need a reliable flame. Follow these simple steps, and you’ll have your lighter back in perfect working condition in no time.
