What You Will Need
- A small Phillips screwdriver
- A new battery compatible with Garmin 520 (ensure it has the same specifications)
- A clean, dry workspace
Step 1: Remove the Mount
Start by removing your Garmin 520 from the mount attached to your bike. Gently but firmly, slide the computer out of the mount to disconnect it.
Step 2: Unscrew the Back Casing
Flip the Garmin 520 over and locate the four screws on the back casing. Using a small Phillips screwdriver, carefully unscrew each screw counterclockwise until they are fully removed.
Step 3: Open the Casing
Once the screws are removed, gently lift the back casing of the Garmin 520 from the front part of the device. Be cautious and don’t force it open, as there may be delicate components inside.
Step 4: Remove the Old Battery
Inside the Garmin 520, you will find the old battery. Gently detach the battery from its connector by pulling it away. Take note of how the battery is positioned to ensure the replacement is installed correctly.
Step 5: Install the New Battery
Take the new battery, ensuring it has the same specifications as the old one, and position it in the same orientation as the old battery. Carefully connect the battery to the connector, ensuring it is securely in place.
Step 6: Close the Casing
Place the back casing of the Garmin 520 onto the front part of the device, aligning the screw holes properly. Gently press the two parts together until they fit snugly.
Step 7: Secure the Screws
Using the small Phillips screwdriver, reinsert and tighten the four screws clockwise into the back casing of the Garmin 520. Ensure they are tight but be careful not to overtighten, as this may damage the casing.
Step 8: Reattach to the Mount
Slide the Garmin 520 back into the mount on your bike by aligning the connectors properly and firmly pushing it into place.
