Before you start
Before you dive into the process of changing the battery, make sure you have these essential tools:
- Replacement battery – Ensure you purchase a genuine Samsung S6 battery or a high-quality compatible one.
- Small Phillips screwdriver – To remove the screws holding the back panel in place.
- Plastic opening tool – To carefully pry open the device without damaging it.
- Tweezers – To handle small components or screws.
- Adhesive strips – To secure the new battery in place.
Step 1: Power off your device and prepare the back panel
Before you start replacing the battery, make sure your device is powered off to avoid any potential damage. Once the device is powered off:
- Locate the small screw on the bottom edge of the device and unscrew it using the Phillips screwdriver.
- Using the plastic opening tool, gently pry open the back panel. Be careful not to apply too much force to avoid damaging any internal components or the frame.
Step 2: Remove the old battery
Once you have successfully opened the back panel, follow these steps to remove the old battery:
- Locate the battery connector ribbon at the bottom of the device and disconnect it carefully using a plastic opening tool or tweezers.
- Identify the adhesive strips securing the battery in place. Slowly and evenly pull on the adhesive strips to release the battery from its position.
- Gently lift the old battery out of its slot and remove it from the device.
Step 3: Install the new battery

- Take the new battery and carefully place it into the empty battery slot.
- Ensure the battery is properly aligned and rests flat in the slot.
- Remove the adhesive strips from the replacement battery (if they are not pre-attached) and firmly press the battery against the device’s frame.
Step 4: Reassemble your device
You’re almost there! It’s time to reassemble your Samsung S6:
- Reconnect the battery connector ribbon to its original position, ensuring a secure and snug fit.
- Carefully align the back panel over the device and press it firmly until it clicks into place.
- Finally, use the small Phillips screwdriver to reattach the screw on the bottom edge of the device.
Step 5: Power on your device
Now that you have successfully replaced the battery and reassembled your device, it’s time to power it back on:
Press and hold the power button until you see the Samsung logo appear on the screen. Once you see the logo, release the power button, and your Samsung S6 will boot up as usual. Congratulations, you have successfully changed your Samsung S6’s battery!
