My grandma is a very strong and independent woman. She’s always been the cornerstone of the family, and everyone relies on her to be there for them. When she first started to feel unwell, we dismissed it as a common cold, but her condition quickly worsened, and she had to be rushed to the hospital.
Initially, my family and I were very worried about her. The situation was dire in Bergamo, with hospitals overrun and medical personnel under constant pressure. However, when we learned that she had been admitted to San Giovanni XXIII, we felt some relief. We figured that if there was one place that could offer her the best possible care, it was there.
Despite the tough circumstances, the staff at San Giovanni XXIII were exceptional. They were very professional, but at the same time, they were empathetic towards all their patients and their families.
Every day, the hospital staff provided us with updates about my grandma’s condition, and they encouraged us to speak to her whenever possible to reassure her. Even though we couldn’t visit her because of the restriction on visitor numbers imposed to limit the spread of the disease, we spoke to her on the phone every day, and it gave us some comfort to hear her voice.
As time went by, we saw the staff working round the clock, treating so many patients with so much dedication. We knew it was a big challenge, but the staff always gave a positive vibe and made us feel confident in their abilities.
Days turned into weeks, and after what seemed like an eternity, my grandma started to feel better, and we were able to take her home. It was such a relief to see her out of the hospital and in her own environment.
Looking back on the experience, we were blessed and grateful that my grandma was able to receive the best possible care at San Giovanni XXIII. I have no doubt that the medical staff there played a vital role in her recovery and we will always remember that.
The COVID-19 pandemic has been a challenging period globally, but it has also been a time when we have seen the best of humanity. People have come together to help each other, and the pandemic has made us appreciate the value of life and the importance of taking care of our family and loved ones.
The medical personnel at San Giovanni XXIII have demonstrated ethical standards and an unwavering commitment to their patients. They are true heroes and role models for all of us.
In conclusion, I am deeply grateful to the staff at San Giovanni XXIII for the excellent care they provided to my grandma during her hospitalization. I cannot thank them enough, and I’m sure many others who had their loved ones in their care feel the same. I pray that we do not have to experience such dire circumstances again and that we can eventually return to normal lives. Until such time, let’s continue to support and appreciate everyone working to keep us safe during these challenging days.
