Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup hot brewed coffee
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Before you begin, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a bundt cake pan.
Step 1: Combine Dry Ingredients
In a bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Ensure that all the ingredients are evenly mixed.
Step 2: Mix Wet Ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together the vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Make sure to combine them well.
Step 3: Combine Dry and Wet Mixtures
Add the wet mixture to the dry mixture and gently fold them together using a spatula. Be careful not to overmix as it can make the cake dense.
Step 4: Add Coffee and Chocolate Chips
Pour the hot brewed coffee into the batter and mix until it is well incorporated. If you prefer extra chocolatey goodness, add the chocolate chips too. Stir gently.
Step 5: Bake
Pour the batter into the greased bundt cake pan. Smooth the top with the spatula and tap the pan lightly on the countertop to get rid of any air bubbles. Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Step 6: Cool and Enjoy
Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, carefully invert the cake onto a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, your homemade chocolate ciambella is ready to be enjoyed!
Whether you serve it as a dessert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or enjoy it with a cup of coffee, this chocolate ciambella is sure to satisfy your cravings. Give it a try and prepare to be delighted!
