Step 1: Prepare the Tent
Before closing the tent, it’s important to ensure that it is clean and dry. Wipe off any dirt or debris from the exterior and allow it to air dry if needed. This will prevent mold and mildew from forming and damaging the tent during storage.
Step 2: Remove Stakes and Guy Lines
Start by removing the stakes that secure the tent to the ground. Use a tent stake puller or your hands to gently remove them. Once the stakes are out, untie or unclip any guy lines that are connected to the tent. Guy lines are used to provide extra stability to the tent and can be found attached to the rainfly or the tent’s body.
Step 3: Close the Rainfly
The rainfly is the outer layer of the tent that provides protection against rain and wind. To close the rainfly, start by folding it in half horizontally. Then, fold it in half again vertically. Make sure the folded rainfly is neat and flat.
Step 4: Collapse the Tent Poles
Next, collapse the tent poles by gently pushing them together. Start with the shortest pole and work your way to the longest. Be careful not to force the poles, as they should collapse easily. Once all the poles are collapsed, secure them with the built-in elastic bands or Velcro straps provided.
Step 5: Fold the Tent
To fold the tent, start by bringing together the opposite corners of the tent’s floor. This will create a triangle shape. Next, fold the tent in half lengthwise, bringing one end towards the other.
Now, fold the tent in half widthwise, with the tent door facing inward. You should end up with a compact rectangular shape. Take your time to ensure the folds are even and the tent is neatly folded.
Step 6: Pack and Store
Finally, pack the folded tent into its carrying bag. Start by sliding the tent into the bag, making sure it fits snugly. If the tent is resisting, adjust the folds as necessary to ease the process. Once the tent is in the bag, close the zipper or secure it with any provided fasteners.
When storing your tent, it’s recommended to keep it in a dry and cool place. Avoid storing it in direct sunlight or areas prone to moisture. This will help prolong the lifespan of your Quechua 3-Person Tent.
