Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Carrigan was diagnosed with alopecia areata, a skin condition that causes hair loss. Growing up was tough for him, as he was often teased and bullied by his peers because of his appearance. But despite these challenges, Carrigan never gave up on his dream of becoming an actor.
After studying acting at the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama in Pittsburgh, Carrigan relocated to Los Angeles to pursue his career. His first big break came in 2008, when he landed a supporting role in the hit NBC series “ER”. From there, he went on to guest star on a number of popular television shows, including “The Blacklist”, “Elementary”, and “Gotham”.
But it was Carrigan’s breakout performance as the charismatic and deadly hitman NoHo Hank in HBO’s “Barry” that truly put him on the map. The show, which centers around a hitman who discovers his passion for acting, has been a critical and commercial success since its debut in 2018. Carrigan’s portrayal of NoHo Hank, with his infectious laugh and penchant for quirky one-liners, has made him a fan favorite.
Carrigan’s talent isn’t limited to acting, however. He’s also an accomplished writer, having penned several short stories and a screenplay. His first book, “The Sound of Whales”, is set to be released in 2021.
In addition to his work on screen and on the page, Carrigan is also an advocate for those living with alopecia. In a 2019 interview with The New York Times, he opened up about how his condition has shaped his life and his career. “My career is literally built on being a guy who looks different,” he said. “It’s cool to be able to showcase that and show that it’s okay to be different.”
Carrigan’s success is a testament to his talent and hard work. Despite facing obstacles early on in his life, he refused to let them hold him back. Instead, he used his experiences as inspiration, both in his writing and in his performances.
As he continues to make waves in Hollywood, it’s clear that Anthony Carrigan’s star is only getting brighter. His dedication to his craft, his unique perspective on life, and his undeniable talent make him a true force to be reckoned with.
