Alex Morgan

Alex Morgan, born on July 2, 1989, is an American soccer player who has been regarded as one of the best female soccer players of all time. Alex’s soccer journey started long before she became a professional player. She grew up in Diamond Bar, California, where she began playing soccer at the age of five. Her passion for soccer continued to grow when she joined the California state Olympic Development Program at the age of 14, and she hasn’t looked back since.

Alex Morgan played college soccer at the University of California, Berkeley, where she scored 45 goals in 4 seasons. She was named the first-team All-Pac-10 player in her sophomore, junior and senior years, and the Pac-10 Freshman of the Year in 2007.

In 2010, Alex Morgan was drafted by the Western New York Flash in the Women’s Professional Soccer draft. After one season with the team, she was traded to the Seattle Sounders Women, where she played for one season. In 2013, Alex joined the Portland Thorns FC, where she helped lead the team to the National Women’s Soccer League championship.

Alex Morgan has also played for the United States Women’s National Team since 2010. She was the youngest player on the team at the time and made her debut in a match against Mexico in March of that year. Alex was part of the team that won the gold medal at the 2012 Olympics and played a crucial role in the team that won the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Throughout Alex’s professional soccer career, she has received numerous awards and accolades. In 2018, she was named the Best FIFA Women’s Player and the U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year. She has also been named to the United States’ Women’s National Team Player of the Year in four different years.

In 2019, Alex Morgan was one of 28 members of the United States Women’s National Team who filed a gender discrimination lawsuit against U.S. Soccer, arguing that they were not being paid fairly compared to their male counterparts.

Off the field, Alex is also a published author, having co-written a middle-grade book series called “The Kicks” with author Joanna Neitzel. The series follows a young girl named Devin Burke who must navigate new friendships and a new soccer team after she moves to a new town.
